POLITICAL
1. CONTRACTOR LICENSING .  05 LSO 0171.W5 .  This bill is introduced as "AN ACT relating to public safety; creating a contractor licensing and building construction authority and division of contractor licensing and building construction within the department of fire prevention and electrical safety; creating the position of chief building inspector; providing duties and powers of the authority and the inspector; granting rulemaking authority; providing for suspension, revocation and reinstatement of licenses; setting limitations; specifying when licensure is required; specifying unlawful acts; providing penalties; providing definitions; making conforming amendments; repealing inconsistent provisions; providing appropriation; and for an effective date."

Jan 12,2005- The above bill is still in the works.  It is a bad bill as it give all licensing power to the Fire Marshall.  It is presently asking for $180,000 to provide staff to function in licensing.  It is sponsored through the Joint Corporations, Elections and Political Subdivisions Interim Committee.  Senator Curt Meier and Rep Tony Ross are the co-chairs.  You can find out more information by calling me (Kirk Faught) or going on-line to  http://legisweb.state.wy.us/  .  As the legi is just going into session I would urge you to contact your local Senator and Representative to discourage passage of this bill.  We can and must do better than this!!!  PLEASE DOWNLOAD A COPY OF THIS BILL , READ IT AND LET ME KNOW HOW YOU FEEL ABOUT IT.

Jan 19, 2005- The above bill has not made it out of committee for the current session.  It is not going to be worked this time but has not gone away.
